Iconography/Iconology:
At the death of Shah Jahan in 1666, his remains were placed beside those of Mumtaz Mahal's.
Stylistic Comments:
This eleveation shows the subterranean tomb chamber below the "false" tombs in the interior of the main structure. The acatual tombs were hidden to protect them from possible descration of the remains of the deceased.
