Formed of pounded earth they were as much as 60 meters long and 10 to 15 meters deep. Although most have been looted, they would have contained many bronzes, sacrifice victims and large amounts of grave goods. Ancillary pits occasionally also held other items and victims relating to a particular burial. once refilled and leveled, the tombs would have been indistinguishable for the surrounding country side.
