Iconography/Iconology: Lion motif. The lion supports are traditional
ornaments within the Buddhist context. This type of frontal representation
of lions was used widely in Buddhist art from the 3rd - 17th century C.E.
The stone relief gives an idea of some of the richness that the original
temple must have had.
