Iconography/Iconology: Images of Maitreya are, by far, the most common
type of image found among Gandharan bodhisattvas. Like the Ahichattra
example, he holds a vase in his right hand, while the left hand displays
abhayamudra. He is dressed in the Indic version of princely garb,
indicating that he is the regent of Tushita Paradise.
